A Look Back on 2018
December 20, 2018
2018 is almost in the books so we figured we’d take a look back at some of our more popular blog posts.
Early in the year, we introduced our “What is” series as a means to share various supply chain terms and phrases with folks just entering the supply chain market as well as for shippers looking to learn more about shipping in general. Examples of some of these blog posts include:
Big packages was also a popular topic. Buying furniture, exercise equipment and appliances online has become a comfortable experience for consumers. However, FedEx and UPS do not want these types of items in their small package network and for good reason. Their networks are built for small packages, not big ones. Instead, think LTL for big stuff. So, some of our blog posts on this topic include:
- Big and Bulky Providers Expand Last Mile Networks
- Bulky Item Last Mile Delivery Options Grow
- FedEx Doesn’t Want Your Large, Heavy Packages during the Holiday Season
Amazon and the retail industry, supply chain risks as well as quarterly earnings analysis for small package providers were also popular topics but perhaps the most popular blog posts for 2018 were on rate increases. This year we witnessed what we believe will be a trend moving forward into 2019, rate increases throughout the year versus the traditional annual increase. So, in case you missed any of the rate increases, check out the blog posts below:
- UPS Increases Overmax and Oversize Pallet Handling Surcharges and Introduces a new Shipping Charge Correction Audit Fee
- More UPS Rate Changes Coming Soon
- The Price for Shipping a UPS Package is Going Up…Again
- USPS Proposes Historic Rate Increases for 2019
- No Surprise, FedEx Raises 2019 Rates
- UPS Releases 2019 Rate Increases
As a bonus, be sure to check out our guide.
We at Spend Management Experts would like to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Holiday season. The blog will return the week of January 4
